Increasing Athletic Performance

How to increase your Athletic Performance and potential

I see it all the time.

I have clients that call themselves weekend warriors, or play in competitive Rec leagues, or try to keep up with their kids that play sports.

Results: tweaked knees, pulled hamstrings, ankle sprains, low back spasms or shoulder pain.
But why: The truth is, they don’t train for these sports, or at bare minimum incorporate some kind of movement patterns that are sport-specific, preparing them for what they’re going to face on the court, road, field etc. Yes, they are generally fit individuals but their method of exercise didn’t prepare them for the sport they chose to pursue that day.
Traditional lifts usually have people working in one or two planes of motion and sports and life in general (being human) has you incorporating a lot of rotation and increased forces that your body should be able to respond to. However, if you lack exposure to these movement patterns, injury ensues.

How does it work?

Being a Certified strength and conditioning specialist as well as a Physical therapist I structure and prescribe movement based on your sport of choice as well as preparing the muscle tendon and joint to absorb and release the forces that are required of it during play.
I’ve worked with marathon runners, triathletes, volleyball players, NFL, and MLB. Whether you played back in high school, college or are just looking to pursue these sports later in life and feel like you’re missing your athletic edge. Please reach out.
Each month we develop a plan that’s tailored to your performance goal and we review specific movements and techniques (in a one-on-one session) written in your protocol via the application on your phone so you don’t feel lost or concerned if you’re performing everything correctly.
This performance program has proven to be very effective in getting my clients more balanced, explosive, and prepared to execute at a higher level.

“I came to Juan with a shoulder injury from years of playing volleyball. He has helped align my posture and shoulders and stop the pain I was getting during/after volleyball sessions. After a few sessions with Juan I noticed a big change in my shoulder strength and stability. Juan’s knowledge and ability to thoroughly explain my issues and how to treat them have been extremely helpful. I highly recommend Juan as a PT!”

“Juan is the best! He is and will always be my go to for all physical therapy needs. My kids and I play soccer recreationally and the three of us have had ankle sprains throughout the years. I myself have had several. I always make an appointment with Juan right away. His knowledge and ability to rehabilitate your joints and muscles is impressive. Highly recommend. “
